Family-friendly itineraries

Hi Hokkaido travelers,

I grew up in Eastern Hokkaido, raised by travel-loving parents.

They took me on a trip every weekend and showed me the beauty of Hokkaido.

BUT as I became a teenager, my dream was to move to the big city Tokyo (a typical countryside girl, no?)

Until I spent the following years in Tokyo and abroad for study and work, I didn’t realize how amazing Hokkaido was.

Now, my life mission is to share about my beautiful hometown with the world, especially international travelers like you!

Everything I share on my blog and this newsletter is built on my childhood experiences traveling with my family.

So today, I’ll send you my favorite itineraries for family trips. But they are also great for couples or solos!

🚗5-day Hokkaido family trip

Check this out if you’re visiting Hokkaido for the first time. This itinerary covers “must-see” popular tourist spots in Sapporo, Asahikawa, Furano and Biei.

I included many useful tips for parents to navigate the trip, like where you can find bathrooms and changing tables and where to stop by to break long drives.

🌳One day trip around Lake Kussharo

The Lake Kussharo area, including Lake Mashu, has diverse nature sites in ONE AREA - lakes, a volcano, walking trails and hot springs.

The best part is… You can visit them all in ONE DAY!

You don’t want to drive too long, especially when traveling with young kids. This itinerary is perfect if you want to see many things but have limited time.

🧸The 10 best things to do with kids in Eastern Hokkaido

These are my favorite activities that I personally enjoyed when I was a kid. They are all fun! I listed both outdoor and indoor activities so you won’t feel lost, rain or shine😊

I know planning a trip for a whole family is not easy… but hope these can give you some good ideas!

I have many more Hokkaido itineraries — make sure to check them out.

Happy trip planning!

Best,
Yuuka

Hi Reader, I just came back to Switzerland yesterday from my New Year holiday in Japan. Taking a long-haul flight with a 12-month-old baby was wild... I’m exhausted. And super jet lagged.
